Communications watchdog Ofcom has told BT to speed up the installation of high-speed cables to businesses.

Following a recent review by Ofcom into leased lines, communications watchdog Ofcom has told BT to speed up the installation of high-speed cables to businesses and to reduce the prices it charges for them.

In most cases the leased lines are owned and maintained by BT on behalf of the competing providers.

BT accepts that more needs to be done to meet rising expectations of business users.

Ofcom has said that BT's performance had not been "acceptable", however BT have commentated that some of the regulator's recommendations did little to help it "underpin service improvement".
