George Stas is an IT Technician at Soltech IT. Below is a little bit more about him!

Describe your role at Soltech IT.

My role at Soltech IT is to provide IT support to schools and businesses both while on site as well as remotely. Whether it be routine maintenance, upgrades or solving issues; my job is to help keep things running smoothly.

What skills do you think you bring to your role?

I’ve always had a keen interest in technology and spent a considerable amount of my childhood in front of a screen. I knew I wanted to get into IT when I started to take apart gaming consoles and modifying them. I moved onto PC’s and started to build/upgrade them for friends and family. I studied computing at college where I discovered an interest in networking and security. The latter being very important in my job when dealing with schools and businesses.

What is your favourite piece of tech or gadget?

My Samsung s7 Edge. Everything I need is in my pocket; Spotify, email, social networks and the ability to look up anything within a matter of seconds is something I can’t live without.

Outside of work what is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

I enjoy socialising and when not in front of my computer I like being out and about doing things. Whether this be focusing on fitness or doing the opposite and going out for food – Being around people is what I enjoy.

What are you listening to/ reading/ watching at the moment?

I’m currently binge watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Doctor but I really like finding good shows on Netflix. I’m just waiting for the last season of Game of Thrones!
