These most recent donations have not only included a 65" or 75" Promethean ActivPanel Touchscreen, the schools have also received WiFi module upgrades, Android functionality, wall mounting brackets and relevant cables, plus delivery, removal / WEEE disposal of old equipment, installation and training, all as part of Soltech IT's donation.

That's around a £3,000 donation at each school or MAT.

Why are traditional landline telephones being coming to an end?

In 2025, the technology that currently makes landline telephones work will become end-of-life and be switched off for good.

The technology behind traditional landlines is called The Public Switched Telephone Network or PSTN for short. PSTN allows telephone communication between people using copper cables. As we move forward these copper cables will be replaced with a modern internet-based telephone connection, commonly known as Voice-Over-IP or VOIP for short.

The move which was enforced by the government, is need due to the natural decline of traditional landline usage, with copper cables constantly being replaced with modern and better fibre-optic cables.

Switching to internet-based VOIP phone system comes with many benefits including cost savings and a much better call quality.

How will this affect my organisation?

  • One of the biggest impacts of this shift in technology will be felt by businesses and organisations who still use traditional landline telephones, fax machines or security/fire alarms.

  • These organisations will be required to over to a VOIP telephone systems as soon as possible to prevent disruption. VOIP phone systems provided by Soltech IT are very cost-effective and include a number of advanced capabilities that many businesses will benefit from.

What should I do next?

If your business is still using a traditional landline phone system then we would recommend switching to a Soltech IT VOIP telephone system as soon as possible.

Switching will ensure your organisation does not experience any unexpected interruption in 2025, whilst your business will also benefit from cost savings and enhanced capabilities.
