Things to consider:
Is your hardware Compatible with Windows 11?
Upgrading to Windows 11 is free to most users, however you may find your existing device does not meet Windows 11's minimum requirements, as Microsoft has much stricter hardware requirements for Windows 11.
You will need to check to see if your devices processor and memory are supported, whilst ensuring your device has a TPM v2 chip installed. Our technical team can provide a hardware audit for your organisation if required.
Are your application compatible with Windows 11?
Each and every downloaded application on your device(s) should work in the same way as they do with Windows 10, however it is vitally important to research and test each application before upgrading. Our team at Soltech IT are on hand to assist with this process should your organisation require assistance.
Will Windows 11 look and feel different?
Windows 11 does look different to Windows 10, however the general feel of the operating system is very similar to Windows 10.
One of the main differences between the two operating systems is the Start Menu. First introduced in 1995, the Windows start button and taskbar icons are centrally located in Windows 11, which is similar to MacOS and Chrome OS. Users still have the option to move it back to the left
Does Windows 11 offer greater security?
The most important reason for organisation to update their operating systems, is to ensure they still receive the critical security updates. Microsoft are committed to supporting Windows 10 until October 2025, as it stands, we have over 3 years until the security updates cease. However Windows 11 offers improved and modern security features that organisations should consider using.
When should my organisation upgrade?
That is a very good question, and one that varies from organisation to organisation. The simple answer is that an organisation should seek professional advice from a company like Soltech IT.
